Media Awards Task

write mini-reviews of your THREE favourite films and to post them up onto your coursework blog. Click Click was my favourite film of the whole night. The use of cinematography was amazing and the editing looked professional. The use of slow mo at the beginning when the 'click' made the film instantly grabbing and made me want to carry on watching, also the slow mo used when the group of 5 were walking up built up tension. The sparks during the gunshots made the whole film seem realistic. The use of many different scenes stopped the film from becoming boring because we didn't know what was coming next. Out Of Mind The narrative of Out Of Mind was in my opinion the best. The story line of a girl being trapped in some kind of unknown bubble made the film intriguing. The main actress was really good at performing and looked comfortable in front of a camera making the whole film a lot more enjoyable to watch. The use of multiple scenes in such a small amount of time kept

Funny Games (2001) Directed by Michael Haneke 1) What is the director saying about the family from the choice of music played? The music at the beginning suggests the family is laid back and calm, with very little tension running through their lives. At 1:48 this changes dramatically from opera singing to rock music. Rock music connotes aggression, being hyper and also the idea of having strong views and beliefs. Rock music is also closely associated with sex and drugs. This suggests that the family isn't as calm and chilled as we originally thought. They may be political activists or have extreme view on life, society and the government. 2) How would you describe this use of music? This use of music creates a strong contrast. From laid back soothing music to upbeat erratic music. This contrast creates a sense of confusion and leads us as an audience to asking lots of questions. The rapid transition suggests the family isn't all as they seem. The starting music w

Parallel and Contrapuntal video.

I have used slow and romantic themed music as I thought it was easy to find videos which were parallel and contrapuntal to the song. I've used videos connoting love, family and relationships which are parallel to the emotion filled song and I have used videos of violence aggression, abuse and partying which are contrapuntal. This is because they are the total opposite to what you would expect to see alongside slow romantic music.

Film Noir Research

Image
The term "film noir" comes from the French term for "black film." Film noir movies include many different  genres  of movies, such as  gangster  movies, police movies, and  detective  movies. Film noir movies are often shot at night, and the stories often take place in bars,  casinos, and cheap/rough hotels. This makes film noir movies look very dark, because the scenes are shot at night, or inside dark places. Film noir movie  scenes  often have a lot of shadows. There are also often dark shadows across the actors face. All of the shadows and darkness make the film noir movies feel  mysterious  and stressful. Characters in the Film Noir genre are often greedy, jealous and/or out for revenge. Story lines are usually based around a robbery, fraud, blackmail or murders. The hero in a lot of Film noir movies are often an underdog and aren't as innocent as they make out. They may commit good deeds but they will also commit crimes which will make the audienc

Lighting 'still image analysis'

Image
The lighting is low-key as we can see a strong contrast between light and dark and shadows have been created. Top lighting has been used to make the actor look more glamorous as it has accentuated her cheek bones. The smoke effects used have created an obscured look as her outfit and part of her face is plunged into smoke. The cigarette and the darkness all give the impression that this is a crime film. The lighting is low-key as most of the still is complete darkness. Top lighting is used to make the actors facial features appear more pronounced and makes her look more glamorous. The darkness brings a sense of mystery. High-key lighting has been used so the still appears more realistic. Under lighting has been used to create an almost distorted effect. We know this because part of his face appears to be darker. The use of this lighting makes the still seem extremely serious.  Low-key lighting has been used to create shadows and enhance the contrast between dark and light

Star Persona Video Feedback And Learner Response

Image
Devesh WWW: The actual makeup transformation was really good. The makeup looked professional, especially the eye makeup. The background and the seat used fitted in well with the glamorous look created as the wallpaper and chair were both classy. The speed of the video wasn't too fast or too slow, it was just right. The video didn't become boring because it wasn't longed out. EBI: The video could have been improved if at the end the character created let down her hair, so that it fitted with the whole glamour look. Personally I don't think the music was quite right. It gave off a sci-fi feel which doesn't match with the persona being created. The lighting could have been improved as it is quite hard to see the little details, especially when she is doing her eye makeup. Deandre WWW: The makeup idea is very unique. It isn't boring to watch as the makeup has an added aspect instead of it being a typical glamour or horror makeover. The use of transiti
